The City of Berkeley’s annual Harvest Festival invites the community to celebrate the vibrant fall season with a free, family-friendly event. This cherished tradition offers a lively day filled with music, activities for all ages, and a variety of contests and exhibitions to enjoy.
Families can experience a wide range of entertainment, including live performances by Andre Thierry, Keep on Truckin, and United We Fam, with a DJ spinning between sets. Children will be delighted by the Kids Zone, which features a zipline, giant inflatables, scarecrow making, pumpkin decorating, and face painting. Toddlers can explore the “Tot’s Zone,” specially designed with a small jumper, arts and crafts, a sandbox, and more fun activities for the little ones. For adventurous adults, the festival’s Ride Electric event at the Cedar Rose basketball courts will showcase electric cars, along with opportunities to test-ride electric bikes and scooters. Experts and local riders will also be on hand to share tips on discounts, rebates, and other perks of electric transportation.
Food lovers won’t want to miss the Food Contest, offering a chance to showcase the best-baked goods, preserves, pickled vegetables, pies, and even sugar-free creations. Registration is free, with submissions accepted from 9:00 am to 11:30 am, and judging will begin at noon.
Festivalgoers can also visit booths to meet with City employees from various departments, such as Public Works, Police, Fire, and the Berkeley Library. It’s a perfect opportunity to learn about city services and ask questions. And if you’re a green transportation enthusiast, there’s even a free bike valet service to accommodate those arriving by bicycle. Public transit options include the AC Transit #52 and a short walk from the North Berkeley BART station.
With food trucks serving up Southern cuisine, BBQ, lobster dishes, desserts, and more, plus the chance to lounge on a blanket and enjoy live music, the Berkeley Harvest Festival promises a day full of fun, community, and unforgettable memories for the whole family.
