Presence in Motion offers a unique space for individuals to explore, practice, and deepen their awareness and embodiment within a supportive community. Each week, participants are invited to engage with different modes of presence through a variety of practices, including guided sitting, walking meditation, and diverse movement exercises. These practices will be experienced in silence as well as accompanied by music, creating a rich environment to foster self-awareness and connection.

Throughout the evening, participants are encouraged to cultivate a sense of groundedness, embodied presence, and to explore the subtle nuances of movement. The sessions aim to deepen somatic awareness and attune participants to the vibrations of being, allowing them to guide and nourish their bodies as they reconnect with their inner landscapes. This practice is not only an opportunity for physical movement but also a chance for individuals to show up for themselves, embracing the unfolding of their bodies and minds in an organic, unforced manner.

The class is designed for movers and mindful explorers of all levels, with no prior experience required. Participants are invited to come exactly as they are, with an open heart and mind, ready to experience the practice in whatever way it unfolds. In this shared space, the focus is on nurturing connection—to oneself, to others, and to the wider world around us.

Mira Barakat, the facilitator, brings a wealth of experience as both a dancer and a mindfulness practitioner. With a long history of meditating alongside her dance practice, she is primarily known for teaching Argentine Tango but also draws on her expertise as a mindfulness teacher and practitioner of Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychology. Mira’s unique approach weaves together Vipassana meditation, Argentine Tango, Contact Improv, modern and improvisational dance, partner dance fusion, Hakomi, and yoga. Her work encourages a mindful, embodied approach to movement that honors the whole being.

Whether you are looking to deepen your mindfulness practice, enhance your movement awareness, or simply experience presence in a new way, Presence in Motion offers a transformative, community-centered experience that nourishes body, mind, and soul.
