As our relationship with technology deepens, more of our lives are shaped and mediated by digital tools, which brings both opportunities and challenges to our social, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual well-being. Many people today feel a sense of “soul loss,” experiencing disconnection from themselves and others due to the constant distractions of technology, social comparison, and isolation. This disconnection manifests as a feeling of living life as an object—passively reacting to external events—rather than as an active participant in shaping one’s experience.

Rewilding the mind through conscious awareness is a powerful tool to counteract this modern disconnection. By cultivating practices that encourage individuals to observe their own experiences as a witness, they can begin to shift from feeling like life is happening to them to becoming an active subject within their own lives. This transformation leads to greater personal empowerment, inner connection, and true relational engagement.

Dr. Sará King and Dr. Eve Ekman, two renowned contemplative scientists, are collaborating to explore how human emotion and awareness intersect with technology. They combine cutting-edge research with embodied practices, offering a space for transformative growth. Through storytelling, relational exercises, and contemplative techniques, they aim to help individuals map and transform their relationship with technology. Their work seeks to reveal the liberating potential of digital tools for enhancing embodied awareness, fostering community, and promoting social justice.

Eve Ekman, PhD, MSW, is a contemplative social scientist specializing in emotional awareness, empathy, and interventions that combat burnout. She combines her background in clinical social work, integrative medicine, and contemplative science to promote well-being. A former well-being lead at Apple and a senior fellow at UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center, Eve’s work is rooted in interdisciplinary research and experiential practices. Sará King, MA, PhD, is a neuroscientist, artist, political and learning scientist, and meditation teacher. Her work focuses on healing intergenerational trauma through accessible contemplative practices that merge art, music, and meditation. She is the CEO and founder of MindHeart AI, an innovative startup that uses neuroscience and AI to map human awareness and promote collective well-being. Currently a post-doctoral fellow at UC San Diego, Sará is dedicated to exploring the intersections of empathy, compassion, and social justice. Learn more about her work at MindHeart AI.

Together, Eve and Sará offer a space for profound transformation—helping individuals rethink their relationship with technology and harness its potential for personal growth and the cultivation of a beloved community. Through their workshops and exercises, participants can explore how technology, rather than distancing us from one another, can be a tool for deepening connection, promoting healing, and advancing social justice.
