What Is a Sound Bath?

A sound bath is a meditative experience where attendees are enveloped in sound waves produced by instruments such as gongs and singing bowls. Participants typically lie on their backs, often referred to as the Savasana position in yoga, allowing the calming energy to wash over them. These intimate sessions with small groups provide a relaxing and rejuvenating way to conclude the day.

What to Bring:

To ensure maximum comfort, participants should bring a yoga mat, pillow, and blanket, along with an eye mask if desired. For those who may have difficulty lying down, a blanket and pillow will suffice. Since evenings can be chilly, a warm blanket is also recommended.

Sound Healing Practitioner:

Leading the session is Sally Porter Munro, a talented mezzo-soprano originally from London, England. A graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, she has extensive experience performing with prestigious organizations such as the English National Opera and the Royal Opera de la Monnaie in Brussels. After relocating to New York City for further studies, she eventually moved to San Francisco, where she has sung as a soloist with various opera companies and orchestras. In addition to her performance career, Ms. Munro teaches singing and the Alexander Technique, having been a faculty member of the San Francisco Girls’ Chorus for twenty years and currently teaching at The Young Women’s Choral Project.
