SUMMARY:Zero Forms and Movement Situations with Michael JMK
DESCRIPTION:This twice-weekly class invites participants of all levels to e
xplore the vast potential of skillful movement\, blending elements of phys
 ical preparedness\, whole-body coordination\, and creative adaptability. W
ith a focus on rhythmic intelligence\, structured play\, and dynamic inter
action\, the class aims to foster both individual and collective kinesthet
ic awareness.\n\nRather than adhering to rigid protocols\, this movement p
ractice is guided by inquiry and curiosity:\n\n How can movement become a
  tool for self-correction\, injury prevention\, insight generation\, and l
ong-term cognitive and physical vitality?\n How can we channel energy eff
ectively through our entire structure to enhance expressive power and phys
ical grace?\n How can we attune to one another\, fostering a supportive e
nvironment for kinesthetic learning and problem-solving?\n\nRooted in the
movement pedagogy of Jozef Frucek and Linda Kapetanea (Athens\, Greece)\,
the class also draws from classical strength and conditioning techniques\,
Hatha yoga\, and universally relevant principles found in dance\, sports\
, and martial arts disciplines.\n\nZero Forms focuses on solo practices\,
 including durational stillness\, postural alignment\, joint articulations\
, and dynamic rhythmic coordination. These practices deepen participants'
embodied understanding of body support\, weight distribution\, axes of rot
ation\, and locomotive patterns. By working through improvisational scores
and exploring the subtlety and complexity of the human form\, students ga
in greater insight into reflexive alignment\, joint centration\, and the e
lastic qualities of movement.\n\nMovement Situations introduces partner-ba
sed or object-based scenarios that mimic real-world\, unpredictable\, and
nonlinear environments. These “simulations” challenge adaptive strateg
ies and emphasize movement empathy\, interpersonal attunement\, and inters
ubjective awareness. Participants engage in playful\, semi-chaotic games a
nd exercises that strengthen problem-solving skills and develop a more res
ponsive relationship to physical environments and other bodies.\n\nThe cla
ss is anchored in a thoughtful analysis of culturally and spiritually sign
ificant movement disciplines\, as well as the everyday "choreographies" of
life. The ultimate goal is to cultivate greater autonomy over psychomotor
development\, expand body awareness\, and enhance athleticism in a way th
at aligns with long-term well-being.\n\nAll are welcome\, especially those
engaged with meditation\, somatic practices\, dance\, or martial arts. Th
 e atmosphere is calm\, focused\, spontaneous\, and non-competitive\, encou
raging an environment of playful exploration while being responsive to the
  needs of the group.\n\nGET TICKETS\n
